Topic > The Anti-Semitic Power of Jud Süß - 2418

Without propaganda the Nazis would not have come as far and as powerful as they were. A powerful work was the Nazi film Jud Süß. This is a Nazi propaganda film released on September 24, 1940 by a Nazi production company called Terra Filmkunst under the order of Joseph Goebbels. For many people this is considered one of the most anti-Semitic films the Nazis ever put into production. I will look at the overall message of the film, how they act to be anti-Semitic, and how powerful this film actually was for the Nazi party. What was in this film and what happened to the actors after the end of the war and what was the real power of this anti-semitic film are some questions that will be answered in my article and why this film was more effective than the other films that have been made. When this film first went into production, it was actually delayed for quite a while, because Joseph Goebbels, the head of production on the film, only wanted the best actors for his film and this was turning out to be a problem for a period of time One of the main problems was that during these times of war many Jews were being blamed for many of the problems going on and their concern was that people watching would see and assume that the people playing the Jews on screen were really Jews and that would have put a damper on the effectiveness of the film and before they even did it Goebbels had to announce that all the people in this film were real Germans and not Jews. Image was crucial to survival in these times. Since the actors in Judd Suss were of such a high caliber, they had to be paid very well to appear in this film. One of the main actors that Goebbels wanted in this... center of paper... was portrayed in the film as the good guy or the hero of the film to bring the power hungry Jew in this case Oppenheimer to justice. The casting of this film played a major role in the success of this film, all thanks to Joseph Goebbels who had to pay the money and made sure that German citizens knew that the actors were not really Jewish but had real German blood flowing their veins. A lot of people were forced to see it and it was filmed all along the front line to show it to the troops and show it in multiple places at once, so it made sure people knew about it and went to see it. Publicity also played a huge role in determining the success of this film. This movie will always be used to show how the movie industry can plant ideas in your head and make you believe what they want without you even knowing what happened.
