As time passes, technology also advances. Technological advancements reveal a variety of problems in life around the world. Texting and driving is at an all-time high, and while society welcomes a technology-focused future, it also inevitably suffers repercussions. The use of cell phones while driving has been studied consistently over the past two years at universities across the United States. Statistics show that texting and driving have an excessively negative impact on various aspects of our society, including the main aspect: safety. It's time to change society's view on texting and driving because studies show it is one of the most dangerous activities you can do. do while driving a motor vehicle. A large percentage of respondents agree that texting while driving is a very dangerous action, and organizations are forming nationwide to stop cell phone use while driving. Although people seem to believe that there are some things that can't wait until they are stopped safely, statistically, texting and driving substantially increases the likelihood of a collision, which can be prevented with stricter enforcement of laws about texting and driving. we often get caught up in the frenzy of everyday life, we often forget that texting while driving puts someone at risk of injury. According to a 2013 study from the University of Utah, “about 25% of all car accidents are caused by cell phone use” (Jackson). At the same time, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concluded that using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle “increases the likelihood of a crash by 23.2 times” (“Study Texting and Driving” ). Legislators across the country must together ban and take a stand against the hostility of texting while driving to do their jobs and protect the citizens of the United States of America.
