As our society has become more universal, elementary, middle, and high schools must support diversity, which includes ethnicity, race, culture, class, and gender. In multiracial and multiethnic populations, there are many different ways they influence students in formal educational settings. Negative attitudes and opinions about race still follow many students into the classroom today, are not always supported by evidence, and are usually opposed to any changes. Creating a classroom environment that produces meaningful discussion about race, culture, and ethnicity is the instructor's primary duty.
