Topic > The Girl Who Owned a Town by OT Nelson - 764

Protagonist Lisa was introduced as scared and confused. “But now all the adults are gone.” This represents her change because she had been just a normal child until her parents died along with all the other adults and this made them all confused and scared with no one to take care of them. She had tried to avoid other characters because she knew they would try to rob her. When Lisa was with her brother she was kind and courageous. “Please tell me a story.” This represents his courage and kindness because he had taken on the role of a parent by telling him stories every night and he was kind because he made up the stories and they all had a happy ending. However, as the story progressed, she became harsh. Yet he cared about his friends and his brother. Lisa had become very responsible and intelligent as time went by. "I called this meeting because...". This represents him being intelligent and responsible because he had developed a group that kept everyone safe in their neighborhood. Lisa had used her brain and came up with an amazing idea that might have been the only reason anyone in the neighborhood was still alive a year later. At the beginning of the story everyone was just trying to survive. They had taken food wherever they could find it. “Lisa looked towards the farmhouse...”. This represents how they found food wherever they could because everyone was just trying to get food wherever they could and that's what Lisa was doing at this point in the story. They were scared and started forming gangs to get more food and safety. Yet, as the story continued, finding food became more and more difficult. So Lisa had taught several people that all you had to do was think. Lisa and... in the center of the paper... point of view. This proves that it is an omniscient third person because it showed both Tod's actions and feelings. While the second quote had shown Lisa's actions and feelings. This story had been put in an order where the emotions were constantly changing. At one point Lisa's neighborhood was celebrating, then the next day something terrible happened. “The evening ended with everyone still humming the tune as they entered.” This represented the celebration. “Smoke everywhere, I have to take Tod out.” this represents the terrible event. This shows the change of emotions before everyone went to bed proud and happy. the next morning the house caught fire and Lisa was left on the street. Another thing that came into play with the order was that with each challenge and battle it would be harder and closer to defeat and the celebrations would be bigger.
