News organizations, however, have integrated Facebook into their news production process (Hille & Bakker, 2013). Traditional journalists use Facebook as a multimedia library where materials sent by citizens are used to supplement their news (Access/Observation). Selection/filtering and processing/editing are still determined exclusively by traditional journalists (Hermida et al., 2011; Domingo et al., 2008; Hille & Bakker, 2013). Citizen journalism only comes into play during the distribution and interpretation phase where citizens are allowed to distribute news content via their Facebook accounts or blogs and facilitate discussions about the news (Hermida et al., 2011; Domingo et al., 2008; Hille & Baker, 2013). The above description is based on the theoretical model of the news production process ((Hermida et al., 2011; Domingo et al., 2008; Hille & Bakker, 2013).
