This research asked us to look at three different management styles and find real life examples of companies or individuals who have or are currently using those management styles. To start we will take a look at using an autocratic management style versus a participative style. In this part we will look at Leona Helmsley and her hotel chain. Once this potion is complete, our next section will look at a centralized management style versus a decentralized style. In this section of the research, we will look at Apple Inc and how they have built an empire with a centralized management philosophy style. Finally, in the final section of the research we will take a look at how Google has created an informal environment where employees have direct access to executives and have the ability to share thoughts and ideas taken seriously and from the heart. different management styles An autocratic leadership style is also known as an authoritarian leadership style. Autocratic leaders are those who believe in individual control over every decision. Furthermore, autocratic leaders do not believe in any input from group members. Leaders who practice an autocratic leadership style normally make business choices based on their own agendas and judgments and never accept recommendations from their subordinates. A great example of a company and individual that used an autocratic leadership style is Leona Helmsley and her chain of Helmsley hotels in New York. Mrs. Leona Helmsley AKA “The Queen of Meanness” was a firm believer in the autocratic leadership style. He ran his hotel empire with an iron fist.
