I am a twenty-four year old female with an Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Arts and Humanities and an Associate of Science in Child Development from Rio Hondo Community College. I am currently finishing my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies at California Polytechnic University in Pomona. Additionally, I hold a teacher permit in child development from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Child Development at Cal State LA because I want to be a future educator focused in the field of early childhood education. I am very intrigued and interested in working with children and their families among the different cultures that educators encounter today. At the age of fourteen, I began assisting in teaching dance lessons to younger students at the studio I attended. As time went by I started teaching choreography to my peers. As soon as I graduated from high school and started community college in Rio Hondo, I started taking general education classes along with dance classes. Soon I started working on my students' choreography. At that point I fell in love with teaching others and soon became a tutor in the Rio Hondo Learning Assistance Center. This was a transition point in my life where I was exposed to a new type of teaching. A teacher who required me to work with a diverse group of individuals, a teacher who challenged me to think differently in my approach to others and in the approach I took to presenting material in such a way that they could be successful in areas they were struggling with. As a result I started taking courses on child development and became very interested in continuing my course towards what I saw as a future educator. After getting my short term goals of my de...... half of the document ...... and the effect it has on children. I would like to study media and technology because I feel that, especially in this generation, children are starting to use technology earlier and earlier. I would like to find out the positive and negative effects that technology has on children's development. I would also like to find out if we can reverse these negative effects and what benefits can be achieved for children who are more likely to use technology. Also, what impact does technology have in a Kinder through twelve learning environment and how is it changing the curriculum for other generations. Right now my career goal is to get my Master's degree and gain experience in the field of child development. I am not closing the door on earning a doctorate, but I would like to gain hands-on experience and start making a difference before entering a doctoral program in this field.
