Topic > ANIMAL TESTING Animal testing has been around for…

Animal testing has existed for centuries not only as a way to “safely” test new and improved drugs, but also to serve as a guinea pig for cosmetics and treatments for well-known facial care providers. A topic that has been discussed a lot lately is one that is not spoken about lightly. The argument has its main components: people who believe that, although animal testing is unethical, it is necessary for future exploration in the medical and scientific fields. And people who believe that it is not a moral act, that testing and processing animals goes against the idea that they are a living organism and crosses the lines of animal abuse. A topic that is taken extremely seriously these days. So there is a time when animal testing is a benefit or wrong and abusive under any circumstances. FBR, the Foundation for Biomedical Research is said to be the “oldest and largest national organization dedicated to improving human and veterinary health by promoting public understanding” and responsible animal research” The aim is to carry out tests on animals so that it is not harmful and at the same time helps to understand how the human body would react to certain drugs and scientific advances. The list of reasons why animals contribute to research is numerous and a website created in the UK lists the top 40 reasons why animal testing contributes to the longevity of humans. Statements such as “We share 95% of our genes with a mouse, making it an effective model for the human body” and “Animals suffer from similar diseases to humans including cancer, tuberculosis, influenza and asthma, among many others. The argument that when one passes a point of moral wrongdoing is still prevalent. However, the UK website also makes a point of listing the current successes… halfway through the document… the drug development and testing process” and stated that the scientific studies there are more effective and efficient than those tested on animals in other laboratories. The debate has long been far from over, and the questioning of the time when these tests on animals, although sometimes deadly and unethical, actually help create a safer environment for humans to live in as well. Organizations like PETA will continue to bribe and expose animal malpractices in scientific contexts, and they may be right. Science is a complex and mysterious anomaly, and yes, there is an answer, but getting there is sometimes a misunderstood and dangerous path. So, until there is a 100% effective alternative to animal testing, scientists and doctors will continue to test on animals. The only solution to end this situation is to find another alternative, which is a science in itself.
