Not many people had heard of the Carstairs. Sure, the name came up from time to time, usually when people walked past the shops and saw the little notice under the shop name: owned by Carstairs Industries. Suffice it to say, not many people remembered the line that was written in small cursive under every seat they owned. It was hard to believe, even for me – the person who was dating the organization's heir – that it had gone unnoticed for so long when the name was everywhere I looked. It came in all shapes and forms, from bold black to a faded grey, sometimes the words were illegible due to the font used, and sometimes they caught your attention before you registered what the name of the store you were looking at was. It was hard to believe that when you asked someone their name (and it certainly wasn't a common name) only one in ten could remember having seen it somewhere, and only one in fifty could place the name and where they had seen it. I was one of the lone 0.1% who could confidently say they knew where the name resided, who owned it, and how much money was tied to it. The only other people I knew who could tell you were the Carstairs family themselves and Jace and he only knew because I told him when I found out that my boyfriend, sweet and shy James Carstairs, was going to inherit a multi-million dollar business when his father he retired. James had only told me this when he was sure that I would not take advantage of his money, since one of his brothers (he was thirteen), had managed to get his share of the inheritance stolen when he married a girl called Abigail. Although that wasn't all that surprising considering he had at least a dozen sp... half of paper... If I never come back here and tell them to increase security. "Well." I raised my eyebrows, “what?” "I said, it's fine. It seems fine and it makes you happy, if you're happy, then I'm happy too." He nodded slightly at the end of the sentence. I smiled, reaching out slightly to shake his hand, "Thanks Jace." When James returned, right after Jace left, I lowered his head towards mine. and kissed him softly on the lips before pulling away and looking into his eyes. "You make me happy." And I swear I would kill to see that smile on James' face, and I was sure that nothing could tear us apart. Well, maybe except Jace, after all we were friends forever, I would do anything for him, but for now I could just bask in the glory of James's smile, which if I ever had to draw it... he would draw it like the sun rising over the horizon.
