The question of whether or not we should allow abortion or guarantee freedom of choice has been widely debated lately in our community. This topic is important for the morality of expectant mothers who are faced with feticide problems. In recent elections, abortion has become a major point of interest for Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are predominantly pro-choice, while Republicans are predominantly pro-life affiliated. Several arguments have been discussed as to why abortion should be legal, however, the accurate view is pro-choice. Abortions should continue to remain legalized, but only for legitimate reasons. But thanks to the 19th Amendment, expectant mothers have the constitutional right to decide whether they want to abort the fetus or not. There are many reasons to abort a baby, including multiple health risks, incidents of rape/incest, and underdevelopment of adolescent bodies. Many people are uninformed about how unhealthy pregnancies are for women. There are an overabundance of health risks related to pregnancy, including high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney problems, autoimmune disorders, infections, diabetes, cancer, and miscarriages. These health risks can cause permanent damage to the mother. The World Health Organization reports that “Every day approximately 800 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.” All these deaths could have been avoided. If abortion became illegal, these women would have no choice. Either they risk dying, they risk their child dying, or both. Often a person may not hear much about women dying during pregnancy, but it happens often. According to World Health Or, nearly 287,000 women have died due to childbirth. If she manages to abort the baby, the victim can try to forget her past and move on. With all this media and technology, children are forced to grow up faster. Carrying a baby to term is hard on the teen's body. Their babies tend to be born prematurely and are underweight. There should be an abortion allowance, purchasable only for legitimate reasons.
