Soapstone- Characters: The main character is developed based on the type of book the author is writing. My main character, Sugar Mae Cole, was developed because of the way she acts towards different characters in the book. And because of her personality and her sweetness, the personality is sweet, kind of like her name and she's polite. He always tries to cheer up the other characters, especially his mother Reba. She has a different personality than the other characters and connects with them in a different way, that's what makes her the main character. she is cautious and also believes in people and things like her mother. Her mother Reba is about to give up, but Sugar still believes in her and believes that she and her mother will have a home and things will change. The point of view goes hand in hand with the development of the main character. The author wrote the book as if Sugar had written it. - Idea: the main idea develops according to the flow of the book. Sugar's father dies and that starts the main idea, Sugar's gambling father (Mr. Leeland loses and owes a lot of money and then they lose the house and that's where the main idea starts: the homeless The main idea is that they (Sugar and Reba lose their home and then they have to survive and Sugar has to live away from Reba (her mother). "King Cole was on chapter ten of his biography when he died." This is the first thing that makes the main idea flow grandfather died” “Trusting Mr. Leeland to return the money was like trusting your dog to look after the food” Mr. Leeland never returned the money and lost it a lot, so they had no a lot of money to pay for their house Point of view: The point of view in the book Almost Home is first person because the author uses words like I or me......middle of paper......ht , and significant.3. I felt like I had a sign stuck on my head: homeless girl This is very important because at a certain point in the book they become homeless and this is an important part of the book and without it the book it wouldn't have a main point. more. The dictionary means: (of a person) homeless, and therefore typically living on the streets. It's important because Sugar loses her house and is homeless and that backfires on the rest of the story. I think of sad, dirty and lonely when I think of the word homeless. Why did the author do this? :The author did all this to make the book seem better and make people want to read it and he needs a main character that connects with everyone and the main idea. And the main idea gives the book its main point and goes into the events to make it flow. and it had a meaning so it sounds good.
