Topic > Eye tracking and human face perception: an analysis
An eye tracker is a device for measuring the position and movement of the eyes. Recent reports from social cognitive neuroscience have highlighted the importance of eye movements in carrying crucial information about the emotional states of others (Kliemann, Dziobek, Hatri, Steimke, & Heekeren, 2010). Amount of eye gaze has been reported to predict the ability to interpret the intentions of others and the meaning of social situations. Since face perception is a fundamental process in interpersonal communication (Haxby, Hoffman, & Gobbini, 2002). In the present study, the facial gaze processing model of young subjects was performed while viewing faces with neutral expression to understand spontaneous human facial patterns.
