Topic > Why I Decided to Go to College - 825

Famous author Brandon Chambers is quoted as saying, “If you're going to fear anything, fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you are successful what a life you will have.” There are several reasons why I might stay home, work, and not go to college; I could go to work every day and earn more money for the house, it's easier and I would be less stressed. Now, however, there are many reasons why I should go to school; how to further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I attend college for several reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don't know something, I like being the person everyone turns to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better than the next person with the job credentials. I want to specialize in Social Work and Criminology. I dream of being a counselor or social worker in a clinical service. I want to help people who need someone there for them, someone who can guide them or even just talk. Another reason is because I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel like in a way I'm setting an example for my parents and brother so that they can go back to school too. Ultimately it's simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more every day. College isn't for everyone, but I will be successful by reaping the benefits, preparing for problems, paying attention to experts, and working on strategies to succeed. Of course I know there will be obstacles I may face trying to keep me from my goal. I'm the type of person who if he wants something will do whatever it takes to achieve his goal... middle of paper... Dropout statistics show that 66.2% of 2012 high school graduates were enrolled in college or college, but only 54% graduate from college. It is important for me to continue my studies and it will open many doors for me. Getting my degree will help me be a better person and will help others be better too. A direct service social worker helps people deal with the challenges they face in their lives. Clinical social workers are therapists who diagnose and then treat individuals with mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders. That being said, I will need to have comprehensive knowledge and an ample amount of education to help my clients. I will have enough education to help a child who has just lost both parents, guide him and show him that there is someone to help him. Just as Anne Franks stated; “No one has ever become poor by donating.”
