The attack was a swift and cruel response to many of the United States government's actions against the Empire. Such courses of action were the oil embargo imposed by the United States to protest the invasion of Manchuria. Japan also believed it could bring the United States to the negotiating table and lift the embargo. The attack may have led to the elimination of the Empire of Japan, as the United States may not have joined because of it. However, it was one of the most important examples of Japanese strategy, and for some reason they exposed it. He brought the United States into the greatest conflict of the 20th century as part of the Allied Forces along with Great Britain, France, and the United Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1931, the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria (the northeastern part of China). Their main importer was the United States which had imposed an embargo as a sign of disapproval.
