Are same-sex marriages different from heterosexual marriages? In the formal definition, marriage "is a faithful and eternal union between a man and a woman, united as husband and wife in a partnership to become one." Because of this definition “same-sex marriage” is not even a real marriage. In fact, it denies the primary purpose of marriage, which is the procreation of a child. In same-sex marriage it is not possible for two men or two women to reproduce without a third person. Because man needs woman and woman needs man. Homosexuality is a mental illness that must be treated. Instead of curing it, the government allows the disease of homosexuality to spread by promoting same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage is harmful to society and must be opposed. Same-sex marriage will always deny the child neither a mother nor a father, validates and promotes the homosexual lifestyle, transforms a moral wrong into a civil right, and is a grave offense to God. Same-sex marriage they should not be given the privilege of getting married because they are unable to have a child together. However, if same-sex couples decide to use third parties, such as adoption or artificial insemination, to obtain a child, they put the child at risk. According to the book “Life Without Father” by David Popenoe it states that “fathers excel at reducing antisocial behavior and delinquency in boys” (1999). It is also stated that “girls who grow up separated from their biological father are more likely to experience early puberty and teenage pregnancy than girls who grow up with their biological father” (1999). In a lesbian family a child is very vulnerable to experiment with sexual activities at a young age. As for sons t...... middle of paper...... The ten main harms of same-sex marriage” by Peter Sprigg “religious freedom does not only apply to formal places of worship , but also at home, in their neighborhoods and in the workplace” (2). With the legalization of same-sex marriage there is no longer religious freedom. Catholic schools that are completely against allowing same-sex couples into their schools will no longer have a choice. Churches where same-sex couples are not welcome no longer have any choice but to welcome them. Employers who are religiously opposed to same-sex couples can no longer discriminate against them for their sexual orientation but for their work ethic. Legalizing same-sex marriage is unconstitutional and completely inconsistent with the First Amendment, which gives people the right to freely exercise their religion. But with the legalization of same-sex marriage, their religious freedom is limited.
