Discussing the government's role in health care has become an American pastime. The government is responsible for improving the quality and safety of health care in the United States, which should improve access to care. Many goals have been pursued since the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Little evidence has been obtained regarding which level of government is ultimately responsible for the continued support of health care. This essay will discuss both the state and federal levels of government in healthcare, along with insights into current happenings at both levels. The Role of Federal Governments in Health Care A fundamental general question about health care is, “What should the government plan to achieve in the American health care system?” This complex question seems to require a complex answer according to some individuals. Out of respect for the matter, perhaps determining personal feelings regarding the Patient Protection and Grantable Care Act could lead to further understanding. Many combinations in general healthcare vary around the world. However, one thing is certain, and that is the established minimum and maximum roles that can be performed by both the federal and state governments (Tang, & Eisenberg, 2014). The federal government acts differently in less developed nations regarding its minimum role in regulating health care. This minimal role would lead the government to regulate safety at a regional or national level where healthcare providers must be licensed and drugs along with devices can be monitored (Tang, & Eisenberg, 2014). At the federal level this easy task can be regulated through monitoring devices, along with prec...... middle of paper ......entities acting as co-managers of your own healthcare, especially for chronic diseases , was suggested by Tang, & Eisenberg (2014). Streamlining effective IT tools and systems that can alert providers in real time to needed information could provide safer, higher-quality care. Conclusion The level of responsibility of government is to protect and promote the interests of society. The market alone simply cannot ensure that all Americans have access to quality healthcare. The government must recognize the interests advanced by citizens in general, especially in the field of health care. Proper planning and ultimate goals set to achieve high-quality care will require strong partnerships exclusively between federal, state, and local governments. A combination of all sectors of government is what America needs to succeed.
