IntroductionPublication DetailsThe most updated version of "The Earth - Evolution of a Habitable World" is the second edition published in 2013 and the first edition was published in 1999. It is a non-fiction book on Geography and Chemistry. The latest version of the book has been updated in several parts, for example, it has updated some images and information that are more relevant to the current situation on Earth. The author of the book is called Jonathan I. Lunine, he is a professor at Cornell University and director of the Center for Radiophysics and Space Research. Organization of the bookThis book is mainly divided into four parts, which are: “The astronomical planet: Earth's place in the cosmos”, “The measurable planet: tools for discerning the history of the Earth and the planets”, “The historical planet: Earth and solar system in time” and “The past and future planet”. These four parts present the elements present on the Earth, the method to learn more about the Earth, the relationship between the Earth and the Universe with the history of the Earth, and how man influences the Earth respectively. For each small chapter of different pasts, at the end of the chapters, there are some open-ended questions that allow the audience to introspect into their own mind. Also, if readers are interested in some topic, there is a small section called "General Reading" at the end of each chapter to further their reading and learning. Furthermore, there is an index and some figures at the end of the book that can help readers easily find the desired topics. Main Theme of the Book This book has two main themes, the first, included in the first three parts, is... middle of the paper... ect of the Earth, it is because if the Earth is a wasteland, we have no alternative choices. Conclusion To conclude, this book is useful for some people who have not studied Geography and Chemistry before, it is because the writer presents concepts in a non-technical language that can be read easily. Furthermore, it contains some images and figures to let us know what the reality of the Earth is in the past and now. In my opinion, I like one of the sessions called "Questions" in each chapter. Because it makes me rethink what the chapters are about and to test that I know this topic well. Furthermore, I can have a chance to introspect about man and Earth and think more and do more about environmental protection for sustainable development. Finally, I would recommend this book to my friends who want to protect the Earth because this book can inspire them so much.
