Price both went to war. However, they both had different jobs during the war and had different experiences. For starters, at the beginning of the story, one of Price's companions observes the dogs drinking blood and he and everyone else start shooting them. Price describes the moment and explains, "We shot the dogs. Not by accident. We did it on purpose and called it Operation Scooby. I'm a dog person, so I thought about it a lot" (Klay 1). This can be interpreted as saying that dogs display the symbolism of innocence. The dogs didn't attack anyone and minded their own business. When all the Prices shot the dogs, he must have felt a sense of guilt that would remain throughout the story. Another incident occurs when Price watches one of his own die. Price illustrates the moment and says, "But thinking about Cheryl made me feel guilty, and I thought about Corporal Hernandez, Corporal Smith, and Eicholtz. We were like brothers, Eicholtz and I. We were like brothers, Eicholtz and I. The two of us saved life to this Marine once. A few weeks later, Eicholtz is climbing over a wall and jumping out of a window, shooting him in the back is halfway" (Klay 2-3). This is compelling because Price actually witnessed people being killed, which is different from the narrator of Bodies where he would simply process them. Although Marines are trained to suppress emotions when someone dies, it can be assumed that Price would suffer psychological damage
