The computer has numerous uses in the workplace; its ability to make work a little easier can be observed in a typical day at the bank or supermarket. The purpose of this research is to explore the uses of different computers and similar systems in the business environment. This research will allow the student to appreciate the age of technology and how far it has come since its invention. This research will enlighten the reader on some of the computerized devices they see around and their function in the environment they often see them in. BackgroundGiven the nature of computer use in Jamaica, each business has its own unique need, it is due to this fact that; Hi lo supermarket in Crossroads has been chosen as the chosen company for this research Hi lo, it will be visited and explored in order to identify all types of computers used by the company and its purpose of use will be discussed in the research section. This research will provide information about the various systems Hilo uses to manage its daily activities and the computerized systems and devices it uses. Objectives The reason behind this research is to observe the current computers used by a specific company (Hilo supermarket) and understand how they work. main parts and functions in the business world and in the various environments in which they are employed.
