Mentors help children understand and communicate their feelings, relate to peers, develop relationships with other adults, and stay in school. But of course, like any other solution, there will always be advantages and disadvantages. For example, one benefit of youth mentoring programs is that students will always have someone to turn to, whether it's emotional, problematic, or even special moments that they feel they share with someone other than their parents, because we're real sometimes teenagers don't do that. I don't always want to talk about some of the things they do or feel to parents because of what they might think or react to. Another advantage is that those students will never be alone and will always be helped. A disadvantage is that not all students will accept this type of mentoring program because they will believe that it is only reserved for people who have serious problems or people with disabilities. Which it really isn't, but as they say “you can bring a bowl of water to a pet but you can't make them drink it”. This phrase relates to this solution because help is offered but it is not possible to force a student to attend, there is only so much that mentoring programs can do to try to
