The role of the teacher to meet individual needs There are various roles that a teacher must carry out on a daily basis and which are part of his responsibility as an educator. Evidently, differentiating a lesson to meet individual needs plays a significant role in their classroom. However, this ultimately occurs during lesson planning, which in turn ensures that each child is challenged and provided with sufficient resources to ensure they are prepared and taught to a high standard. Arguably, the Department for Education (DfE) places a lot of emphasis on this through its 'Inclusion' agenda in the national curriculum. This shows that the Government's priority is to ensure that teachers provide the provision needed to enable their pupils to thrive and achieve with an ambitious approach. This in turn encourages the teacher to be innovative and resourceful in meeting individual needs, thus relying heavily on his or her reflective ability as a teacher on how he or she can provide sufficient provision and enhance the experiences gained from the lessons he or she has taught using differentiation .When considering the role of the teacher, the National Curriculum gives importance to what teachers must do to ensure that standards set by the government are met. Evidently, in the recently updated edition of the National Curriculum, the Department for Education (2013) clearly states that lessons should ensure that there are no obstacles preventing pupils from achieving their desired outcomes. The fact that this falls under inclusion demonstrates the Department for Education's attention to detail in ensuring that each child's needs within the classroom are also met, therefore relying heavily on the teacher to make sufficient provision. ......rented approach. Arguably, the teacher has many roles and differentiating the day to meet individual needs is significant and in line with the needs of the national curriculum that needs to be implemented.
