A woman is a wonderful creation of God. She is the weak, soft and gentle half of humanity. Yet it has one of the most important roles on Earth; a role to continue the human race. Next to a woman there should be a man who will help and protect her. Men, however, don't see it that way. Throughout history, women, a victimized gender around the world, have sought equality, but, unfortunately, male-dominated countries continue to reject this change. As a result, to this day, a woman is still an inferior being compared to a man. Gender inequality and discrimination are root causes of abuse and violence against women, influenced by historical and structural power imbalances between women and men that exist to varying degrees in all communities around the world. According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), every two minutes an American woman age twelve and older is sexually assaulted. Every year there are approximately 237,868 victims of sexual violence. People known to the victim commit approximately 2/3 of the attacks. Sexual violence, described in technical terms, is defined as sexual activity between two or more people in which one of the people is involved against his or her will. The description of “against his will” extends to varying degrees of aggression, ranging from indirect pressure to direct physical attack. “The Making of a Slut” by Naomi Wolf describes the harsh conditions and circumstances under which society labels women as “good” or “bad” and the consequences that result. In her brilliant essay, Wolf highlights the fact that society will scrutinize and criticize women, especially when they show that inappropriate side of them, which… in the middle of the paper… her partners raped her. In this essay I have highlighted how unfair society treats women and no matter how much time has passed, the fact that women have been and will always be sexually abused and assaulted remains the same. According to Wolf's thesis, women must realize that the "bad girl" is a reality for everyone. Therefore, it will not be safe for them to live comfortably until they unite and defend each other. What women, especially teenage girls, need to understand is that they will always be targeted by men wherever girls are vulnerable. Nightclubs, parties and any other place where girls usually let their guard down, men will use this opportunity to attack you. Unfortunately, for women, society will continue to blame them for whatever happened, because she was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and doing the wrong thing..
