Topic > The Solution to Homelessness by Stuart Bykofsky - 1680

However, the variety of homelessness cannot be divided into three general groups. Not all homeless people are unemployed, drug addicts or mentally ill. If Bykofsky's solution to his three groups of homeless people were adopted, there would still be countless people on the streets. There are many other homeless groups. For example, many of the homeless are runaway teenagers or abandoned children. Without experience, these teenagers cannot compete with experienced workers who are also looking for work. There are even some, like the old man in the photo, who can't compete with qualified young graduates. Furthermore, there are also homeless people who are physically disabled. These people include blind and deaf people, paraplegics, or people with chronic illnesses (67). Inexperienced adolescents, the elderly, and the physically disabled are all victims of circumstance and do not fit into any of Bykofsky's groups. Although the man in the fashion week photo is homeless, he cannot be classified into any of Bykofsky's groups. You can't tell he's mentally ill or addicted to drugs just by looking at him
