Topic > Alex F. Osborn: Brainstorming - 797

Brainstorming began in 1939, when Alex F. Osborn began developing methods for creative problem solving. While many people have their own ideas about what brainstorming is, give graphs to make a point or write down thoughts on a sheet of paper and try to understand them. After doing my research, I discovered that there's a lot more to brainstorming than just the obvious things. Brainstorming is a way of thinking about solutions, ideas, or new ways to express something or solve a problem. It can be a difficult process for many people because they may not be able to find a solution because they may be afraid of other people's opinions on their solution to solve the problem or simply because the problem may simply be too difficult and there is no solution to solve the problem. In 1939, a team led by advertising executive Alex F. Osborn coined the term "brainstorming." In the late 1940s, Alex Osborn was a partner at the BBDO advertising agency, where he decided to write a book in which he shared all his creative secrets. At the time the advertising agency was known as the most innovative company on Madison Avenue. Born in 1988, Osborn spent much of his career in Buffalo, where he began working in newspapers, where he partnered with another man named Adman whom he met while volunteering for the United War Work Campaign. In the 1940s he was one of the great old men of the industry, ready to pass on the lessons learned over the years. His book "Your Creative Power" was published in 1948. Description "Your Creative Power" was full of tricks and strategies for inspiring other people to write and put your ideas into words. Osborn's most famous idea was the one discussed in Chapter 33, “H... middle of paper... use of this theory, I don't know if it will be used. Technology is taking over our youth every day, and classroom education is no longer as engaging as it once was. Teachers do not teach the fundamentals and techniques that the child can learn now to be able to apply them in the future. I can only hope that this technique continues to be taught to our younger generations because it allows people to use all their creativity and thinking to the best of their abilities, while at the same time maintaining order in their thoughts. Brainstorming may not be used as much in the future since there are so many different programs and gadgets on the market that allow a computer or some type of device to do the thinking and writing for you. I think this is why there are so many new college students today who don't know how to write because they don't know how to apply their thoughts and words to paper.
