Have you ever wondered how big the Milky Way really is? Well, an American astronomer named Harlow Sharpley gave us the accurate answer to this question in 1920. He began his research in 1914 by studying stars called Global Clusters. He continued his studies and remained persistent over the years until he found the answers he was looking for. for.Our world is incredibly big and there are so many things to discover out there that there is no limit to the amount of things we can learn about it.Until 1920 we didn't even have an idea of the actual size of the Milky Way, But thanks to this man at least we are given an overview of the amount of things out there waiting to be discovered. Throughout his early years and adult life he was always very interested in learning new things and pushing himself with his talent. interests he made many contributions to astronomy. Harlow was born November 2, 1885 on a farm in Nashville, Missouri. His parents were named Willis and Sarah Sharpley. Growing up as an only child, Harlow had no motivation to keep up with his work and the pressure school put on him. He dropped out of school only after receiving a fifth-grade education. Harlow continued to study at home and began to write. He became a newspaper reporter, covering crime stories. This wasn't enough for Harlow, he eventually got tired of his life at home and decided that he wanted to go back to school and get a real education because he realized that it was necessary for him to go further in life and make something of himself. He returned to school participating in a 6-year high school program where he graduated in just two years and as valedictorian. Even though Harlow didn't make the best decisions as a boy h...... middle of paper.... .. others' doubt and doubt about him, rose far above this. He proved everyone wrong and proved to himself that he was an intelligent person who deserved to have a successful life. It is an inspiration to everyone that there is always a way to go back and correct your mistakes. He knew better than to stay home and do nothing. He had a passion for learning and knew that staying at home doing nothing was not who he was and was not what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to make a difference and he did. Not only did he have a successful career, but he had an amazing life with a great family that he created. It demonstrated the wonders that could come from hard work and self-belief. Thanks to Harlow, the great importance of a good education and how far it can take you in life is shown. There are no limits out there for us.
