Topic > Honeywell Case Study - 734

Honeywell, a diversified technology and manufacturing company tackling some of the world's toughest challenges with technology, has partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and decided to launch Got 2B safe program, it was the result of two factors. First, many existing programs are aimed at finding missing children, and second, there are no programs that prevent child abduction. The Got 2b safe program provided teachers with the materials needed to educate children about safety; The program's success earned Got 2B Safe eight corporate responsibility awards and a Silver Anvil Award. The cause of Honeywell's concern about child abductions arose after the U.S. Department of Justice reported that an average of 2,185 children under the age of 18 were gone. However, when Honeywell executives looked deeper into the issue, they found that child abduction was a top concern, after drugs. for parents. Additionally, children are more likely to be abducted by someone they know than by someone they don't know. According to Jackson (2007), young children are likely to be kidnapped by someone they know because they are less able to resist or protest verbally (p.523). Children represent the last line of defense against kidnapping; however, children who are taught refusal skills can help prevent kidnapping. Teaching safety and security is the most important aspect of the program. Got 2B Safe gave teachers the opportunity to provide their students with a positive and inspiring lesson in personal safety. Children depend on adult figures for care; unfortunately, in a negative way, this exposes them to kidnapping. Thanks to the efforts of Honeywell, Peppercom and other anti-kidnapping campaigns, educators have been given more time and resources to focus on child abduction.
