We learn about the Holocaust to understand what is right and what is wrong and to remember the people who died. The main reason we learn about the Holocaust is so that it doesn't happen again. Hitler was born in Austria, but was a German soldier. He was thrown into prison by the Nazi government for attempting to overthrow it. While in prison he wrote a book called "Mein Kampf", which in English means "my struggle". Soon after finishing the book he was released early from prison for good behavior. Thereafter he slowly tried to make his way into the government. Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Hitler and his right-hand man, Himmler, devised a plan called The Final Solution. The Final Solution was a plan to eliminate all Jews in Europe. About 6 million Jews were killed, and another 5 million people who were on Hitler's list of undesirables were also killed. The Nazis had a list of races, people, skin colors, and ethnicities that they believed were bad or not capable because of their race, skin. color or ethnicity.
