In class we discussed what sustainable development means for us; each group had its own definition. Our group's definition was that sustainable development is long-term for future generations, for basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and work. The resource base will increase over time and our resources will decrease, which is why sustainable development is important. Sustainable development is important for future generations to end up with a better world than ours. Sustainable development is achievable if society works together to meet everyone's basic needs and create a better world. To create a better world it is necessary to end poverty and the distribution of wealth must be equally distributed to all. Poverty is a major problem in the world, most of the society belongs to the lower classes. According to the video we watched in class, the richest one percent owns forty percent of the wealth.
