The morale of the student population is often influenced by the grade that is rewarded for the student's effort. A socialist approach to college grades can eliminate encouragement for effort. In this system, students who do not strive to achieve a high grade can refuse to work and still be rewarded with a grade. Although the rationale behind this system encourages justice, equity and quality, it can be argued that the socialist approach in a university context achieves opposite results. In theory, a student who works hard will receive the same grade as a student who doesn't work at all. This can potentially cause a large number of students to reject work and can result in lower grade point averages among students. This in turn will have a negative effect on the University's economy. Large numbers of uneducated students also have the potential to harm the post-college workforce and create a domino effect that harms the entire economy. While not an ideal solution, a tuition increase can encourage students to increase their efforts and improve theirs
