Straddling Bus (SB)Current Situation Road traffic congestion is a major problem in Singapore and causes delays in the transport system, such as buses not reaching their destinations at all scheduled time. Because of this, commuters do not arrive at their destinations on time even if they already take the shortest route to reach their destinations. Although government organizations are making efforts to manage transportation capacity, most citizens are demanding more efficient travel time performance. Otherwise, road users may face further traffic jam conditions impacting the value of their time. Furthermore, public transport users may tend to pay additional transport fares to avoid road congestion. We therefore need to find potential solutions to the problem of road traffic congestion. My innovations will present a way to alleviate the impact of public transport congestion. Proposed Product SB is a form of land transportation with a fixed gap in the middle and can accommodate large capacities. The SB straddles two lanes and runs on fixed tracks along road shoulders and has a gap underneath to allow the rest of the traffic to pass. The SB is designed to reduce the amount of traffic jams as all road vehicles with a height of 2 meters or less will be able to pass under the bus (refer to Appendix image 2). Besides that, SB also includes multiple ultrasonic sensors integrated underneath it. Ultrasonic sensors were also chosen primarily because they offer high speed and are not affected by ground or dirt, which sends alarm signals and alerts any nearby vehicles that are traveling too close to it. Unlike other buses, SB uses electricity instead of patrol for travelers and does... middle of paper... try to bypass all the traffic congestion. This allows residents to reach their destination on time and minimize travel time. And the best part of this transportation is that it will not pollute the fresh air with carbon dioxide during the journey. Promotion strategies The following strategies could be adopted to promote the Straddling Bus: • Creation of a showcase event in social media (e.g. Facebook, YouTube); • Broadcast of commercials on television and radio; • Host an open house to reach residents. Conclusion The idea of ​​Straddling bus is to meet all the needs of public residents, promoting global warming, improving the attractiveness of public transport, reducing traffic congestion and air pollution. It is hoped that the horse bus will not only please but also meet the expectations of all public residents who are looking for a unique experience during their transportation.
