Topic > Internet Censorship: Establishing User Policies

Most people today live their lives online, absorbed in a digital world. When the World Wide Web first dived in and cast its perplexed essence upon wide-eyed onlookers, people could only unconsciously predict where the doors of the Internet would take them from then on, welcoming them with open arms into a modernized world and introducing them to a new life of advanced technological opportunities. Many years have passed since the discovery of our cyber world and authorities around the world are enforcing their implementation of reckless laws despite having differing opinions on how to deal with increased access to information and interaction online. Some governments believe that the flow of technological information should be regulated by their involvement up to the level of Internet censorship, limiting various forms of online content and information distribution, as there are now issues related to commerce, online security and copyright laws . In conclusion, governments are realistically on the verge of tearing down our social structures, sabotaging future innovation and threatening our freedom. If we allow this to happen, we will not progress as a modern nation. Those who value freedom must act to protect our rights and privacy, or we will be surveilled and censored. As Canadians, we must carefully examine the situation and fight against this topic. Censorship has no place in Canada and would violate a fundamental principle of our country.
