In general, not using history is a successful strategy in societies where the legitimacy of the state is based on the belief that social-state relations are particularly effective or that the future appears particularly rewarding. It was argued that a socialist society, on the way to reaching the highest level of an ideal communist society, had nothing to learn from the past, but would have to develop through daily interaction between individuals in a society characterized by socialist virtues such as justice, solidarity and love.
