The Watergate Scandal was a political problem that occurred in the United States in the 1970s. On June 17, 1972, a break-in occurred at the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate Office Complex in Washington, DC. The Nixon administration attempted to hide its involvement. On the morning of June 17, 1972, a pair of burglars were caught and arrested inside the Democratic National Committee, located at the Watergate building in Washington DC. This was no ordinary robbery. The robbers were linked to US President Richard Nixon's election campaign and were caught trying to tap phones. Thieves who attempted to tap the phones failed. other thieves broke into the Watergate building with a new microphone, but a guard noticed that they had broken the locks on the doors. The guard called the police as soon as possible, they showed up and caught the criminals red-handed and took them to prison. it was not entirely clear whether the scammers were connected to President Richard Nixon. There were suspicions that they were connected to Nixon because investigators had found the White House phone number in the spy bin. It later turned out that the president was not telling the truth. just days after the fall of President Nixon provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in “hush money” to spies/thieves. Then President Nixon and his aides established a plan to direct the Central Intelligence Agency to impede the FBI's investigation of the crime. this was a more serious crime than the Watergate break-in, it was an abuse of presidential power, and a deliberate obstruction of justice. The Watergate scandal was about President Nixon and some secret agents trying to steal the secret government in... middle of paper... representatives. around 1947 Richard Nixon became vice president of the United States of America for Dwight Eisenhower. President Nixon lost his first election as president to John F. Kennedy. After a year of unrest and two political assassinations. Richard Nixon became the thirty-seventh President of the United States on January 20, 1969. Later that same year President Richard Nixon gave a speech called the Silent Majority. the speech was for the Vietnam War and expressed his belief that the majority of the population in the United States of America would support his beliefs, programs and policies. Richard MIlhous Nixon was vindicated with a landslide re-election President Richard Milhouse Nixon was sworn in for another term. Richard Nixon is still one of the nation's most famous presidents even though there were many conspiracies about him.
