After invading several countries in Europe and taking so many lives of innocent people, Adolf Hitler was finally stopped. One of the results of the end of World War II was the division of Germany into four zones controlled by Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union and the United States. The lack of agreement and compromise with the Soviet Union over Germany's agreement led to the outbreak of the Cold War. The United States and the Soviet Union became the focus of an arms race to have the greatest nuclear capability. This led to the Space Race, where another heated competition over who could get to the Moon first and have the best space technology. Focusing on the entire world, the United States thought that if one country came under the influence of communism, surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect. McCarthyism was the effect of communism in the United States because it was a time when some people were accused of being disloyal to the government due to inappropriate political connections. The most important factor during the Cold War era was the creation of the Ranger Mission Space Race, Titans, and President Kennedy's contribution. The things we did in the space race, like creating NASA which led to the construction of new technologies, were justified because they initially helped the United States protect itself and still influence us today in being able to achieve our dreams. The program created by NASA called Ranger Mission, was an important factor in being ahead of the Soviet Union. Ranger 7 was the first US space probe to successfully transmit close-up images of the lunar surface to Earth from the Ranger mission. It transmitted over 4,300 photographs during the last 17 minutes of its flight (“Ranger 7” n.pag.). Ranger 7 marked a turning point in American space exploration. From President Kennedy's contribution to the program to the creation of Ranger missions and missile programs, America has become one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. The space race not only created shuttles, but also created things we use every day like water purification, chemical sensing, solar cells, and much more. The Cold War might have many negative aspects, such as the spread of communism and how one country will fall under it and followed by the other, but one thing that has benefited the world so far has been the creation of new technologies by NASA during the war.
