People's thinking is influenced by the parents who raised them, the type of education they accept, and the friends and neighborhoods they come into contact with. If people leave their familiar environment, the way they deal with the same thing might be different because they have no previous experience in dealing with that situation. “Character, therefore, is not what we think it is or, rather, what we want it to be. It's not a stable, easily identifiable set of closely related traits, and it only seems that way because of a glitch in the way our brains are organized. Character is more like a set of habits, tendencies and interests, loosely linked together and dependent, at certain times, on circumstances and context. The reason most of us seem to have a coherent character is that most of us are really good at controlling our environment” (Malcolm Gladwell 160). People in such an environment might have a stable character. However, people's character will change when the environment around them changes. People feel safe at home, but feel nervous and anxious when they are in another country where people speak differently
