Buck Knives 110-9210 Hunter Lock-Back Folding KnifeThe Buck Knives Hunter Folding Knife is a very simple pocket knife for everyday use and outdoor activities such as the hunt. The single stainless steel blade measures 3 3/4 inches in length, making it suitable for medium-sized knife enthusiasts. The implementation of stainless steel allows the blade to last for years with daily wear and even harsh outdoor conditions. The blade of this particular knife is straight edge, great for common uses such as self-defense and everyday cutting. The handle is made from a combination of wood and brass to create an elegant design and a comfortable feel while holding it. For one point, we have the popular clip-point design. This allows for great precision and control, as well as great cutting and drilling capacity. On the downside, the handle is noted as a bit large and heavy, making it slightly annoying to carry around and handle on a daily basis. The bulk and weight also make it a poor choice as a pocket knife, but the knife comes with its own sheath to make up for it. Since the handle is made of brass and polished wood, it isn't very easy to hold either. This could present an obstacle in self-defense situations and could present a safety issue when using the knife for rough cuts or for prying. The stainless steel blade is durable, but will dull quite quickly. This is especially true for people who want to take advantage of the precision of the clip tip for use in carving or for anyone who uses the knife for hunting purposes. The straight edge blade will be useful for many purposes in both everyday events and outdoor use, but the lack of cutting ability makes it less useful... half the paper... the handle seems to have a lot of grip better in wet conditions than traditional textured grips. There seems to be only one downside to this knife and that is the initial sharpness. These knives have a tendency to come out of the package terribly dull, meaning they may need immediate sharpening before using or carrying them around. While regular sharpening isn't a complete surprise for stainless steel blades, a good knife should always be sharp right out of the package for immediate use. This issue is made even more problematic since the S30V steel used in the blade is quite difficult to sharpen. as it is made to be stronger and more durable than other types of stainless steel. However, this particular disadvantage can be taken with a grain of salt as you will get a stronger, more durable blade in exchange for a little extra time and patience with a sharpener..
