Stepping outside, I immediately notice the fresh, damp scent of the earth. As I continue walking, I willingly allow the sprayed droplets to envelop my entire body. My shoes get soaked quickly; with every step I take, I feel a puddle of water moving under my feet. The rain lashes violently onto the dark and slippery pavement. My hair is dripping with freezing raindrops that fall to the ground with every movement I make. The numbing effect of the freezing downpour is finally starting to show. Fierce storm clouds creep into the deadly sky and flashing lightning begins. The rain falls faster and heavier. My feet move quickly as I run down the street. I rush into the house and look out the window at the violent storm that has just begun. Weather has the uncanny ability to readily change moods. Rain contains several emotions that could be considered opposite; they range from purification to depression, from love to anger and from life to death. Clean, crystalline droplets fall carelessly to the ground. Small puddles begin to form and children run outside to play. As a child I loved playing in the rain. I craved the clean feeling I got from playing in fresh, cold water. Water is an essential part of the cleaning process. Rain washes away the layers of dirt that grow over time. Without rain, everything outside would always be covered in dust. Just as rain cleans accumulated dirt, tears clean the surface of the eyeball. This keeps the eyeball moist and usable. Rain falls directly from the sky or heavens, and is often stated as the tears of the gods. Gods are powerful supernatural beings; they are the ideal models of perfection. The... middle of paper... I always thought that rain was simply a type of weather. For me the word rain was used as a clarification to help viewers understand. But rain is much more than just a clarification on the weather channel. Rain is associated with different emotions ranging from purification to depression, from love to anger and from life to death. Sometimes I wonder if life would be better without the rain; there wouldn't be as many natural disasters or frequent reminders of depression. But then I guess I can't feel renewal and love, or see the effects the rain has on life; suddenly, I realize that the positive effects of the rain far outweigh the negative ones. As you see the majestic rain gracefully floating, recognize the simple beauty and importance of rain. Discover those feelings that you have buried inside you for so long; expose the emotions you have hidden and feel free.
