It was first implemented by the United States and Canada, focuses primarily on serious, high-risk youth. It combines multiple therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral family therapies and behavioral parent training. It does this as it recognizes that young people will be integrated into a number of different social environments such as the community, families and their peer groups and therefore this technique aims to combat all of these (Banks, 2013). Another form of therapy currently used is Functional Family Therapy (FFT). It was designed several years ago and is a short-term intervention strategy and is designed to be administered by therapists at home. This means it is less intensive than the MST strategy and costs much less and is therefore often the most popular option for the government. It is aimed at young people between 11 and 18 years old who have problems with delinquency, substance abuse or violence. It aims to improve problem solving skills and improve the family environment by working on emotional connections and strengthening the family structure (Banks, 2013). The latest popular therapeutic intervention strategy is Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC). This system differs from MST and FFT in that the young person does not continue to live
