Additionally, Robert is a directive leader because he is able to implement policies. He is a supportive leader because he creates a friendly environment where we can feel comfortable while volunteering. He is a result-oriented leader because he always sets a time limit on our work. Consequently, this challenges us to stay within the time frame he requires. Finally, Robert is a participatory leader because he constantly empowers us. For example, he is open to listening to our suggestions and implementing them into our daily routine. According to the article “The Path-Goal Theory of Leadership in Companies”, “Every leadership behavior aims to maximize worker outcomes by recognizing the impact of both environmental factors and worker characteristics on job performance” (Cross). Essentially leaders, who implement the four leaderships included in the Path-Goal leadership theory, are great leaders because they look out for their own interests.
