Climate change affects the world in ways that may seem like a slow change that will not be evident in the next few years but more along the lines of the next few decades. This, however, is wrong and climate change is affecting the world now. It is evident in measurable ways, including temperature change, sea level rise, fish migration, and ecosystem change. While these problems may seem very large, they are not the only problems related to climate change. There are many other less important events that are mostly related to temperature change, such as the recent increase in the number and magnitude of extreme weather. While it may seem like climate change is just a figment of the imagination of scientists and politicians, the issue is actually a real problem that affects everyday society in minimal but still prevalent ways. Leading national institutions, Pidgeon, climate change is driving rising coastal property insurance prices due to perceived sea level rise, presumably attributed to climate change (80). Lorenzoni and Pidgeon state that public opinion polls say that people view climate change as an environmental concern and not a domestic one (81). If people don't take climate change seriously and work at the micro level, actually getting results will prove more difficult. According to a study of the percentage of British respondents, oil and car companies are the least likely to tell people the truth about climate change, while environmental scientists and doctors are the most likely (86). Although there is widespread knowledge of the existence of climate change, the limited understanding of the causes of climate change proves to be a burden to the issue. Another problem with climate change is the perceived benefits: many people prefer warmer, less wintry temperatures
