Whose name is this? With the explosion of the commercial Internet industry, domain names and registries have become the preverbal golden goose for some and a nightmare for others. Many famous people and well-known companies have fallen prey to cybersquatters and typosquatters. The terms cybersquatting and typosquatting are two separate and distinct topics but are closely related. Cybersquatting is defined as the registration, sale or use of a domain name with the intent to profit from the goodwill of another's trademark. Typosquatter registers domain names that closely resemble high-traffic websites, but have common misspellings and consumer confusions. Cybersquatters unethically register domain names in the hope that one day a person or group will want to register a website with the intent that that person is willing to do so. pay a large sum of money to recover the rights to the domain. Due to the growing commercial use of the Internet, the act of cybersquatting has caused a lack of availability of domain names for people, businesses, and organizations looking to conduct business online.
