Everyone is created unique and no two are alike. People think differently, dress differently, and like and hate certain things. This is similar to nineteenth century artists including Pierre Etienne Theodore Rousseau and Joseph Mallord William Turner. They are both 19th century artists and were painted at the same time; however, there is a difference between their styles, their point of view and the scenario. However there are similarities between the two paintings. The paintings that will be compared and contrasted are “Under the Birches, Evening” and “The Campo Santo, Venice”. The first painting, “Under the birches, evening”, is created by Pierre Etienne Theodore Rousseau. He was born on April 15, 1812 in Paris, France. His family saw that he had great potential as an artist and since their business was profitable, they were trying to make sure that their son got to do what he was good at ("Pierre Etienne Theodore Rousseau"). he liked to draw landscapes. "However, he did not base his style on classically inspired landscapes as in Italy, but drew inspiration from a 17th century Dutch landscape" (Art of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance). who went against the norms and standards in drawing a landscape and made his own style. As the title suggests, it was an evening when he painted it. The environment he chose was rocky and since it was in the evening it created a darker image or maybe that's how he saw it later, he changed his style and started drawing his paintings lighter and not so dark and scary ( "Pierre Etienne Theodore Rousseau"). However, this was the best of his work which was... middle of paper... Joseph Mallord William Turner. “The Campo Santo, Venice.” The masterpiece of the Toledo Art Museum. The Andrew W.
