The Tragic Case of Larry and Brandon The Tragic Case of Larry and Brandon is a gripping story. It's a reality that stunned the city of Oxnard, California, when a 14-year-old boy named Brandon McInerney shot a classmate, Larry King, twice in the back of the head. The incident occurred in a computer lab where Brandon escaped after committing the crime. As a result of his actions, Brandon McInerney was tried as an adult and sentenced to 21 years in prison without the possibility of parole. He will be released at the age of 39. Now the underlying question is whether Brandon's sentencing was the right decision or whether he should have received more or fewer years in prison. The truth is that I believe Brandon's verdict was a fair and just punishment, however I do not believe he should have been tried as an adult. There is no doubt that what Brandon did was horrible. He killed a child in cold blood and ran away after doing so. He knows what he did and now he has to suffer the consequences. But Brandon was only 14 when this happened. To begin with Brandon was provoked in many ways by Larry. Brandon McInerney's lawyers argue that their client, who was 14 when he killed Larry King in the computer lab of an Oxnard middle school, was so humiliated by King's flirtation that he provoked him into killing his classmate. Larry has approached Brandon numerous times upsetting him in different ways. There are also rumors that King blows kisses to McInerney and asks him to be his sweetheart. The day before the shooting, King said out loud, "I love you, baby!" at McInerney as they passed in a hallway. King's sexual advances fueled his anger towards Larry. Brandon saw that Larry was allowed to come to school wearing girls' clothes and s— middle of paper—and he tried as an adult simply because he wasn't. They even went so far as to sign a petition asking for Brandon to be tried as a minor. Court. The jury was ultimately united in saying that trying Brandon as an adult is a mistake. They wore bracelets holding Brandon up. In the ending there is no happy ending. There is no silver lining or silver lining to this story. Larry was killed and the person who shot him now has to throw his life away by spending more than two decades in prison. And the fact is, Larry will never come back, no matter how many years Brandon is put in prison. Like I said before, what Brandon did was wrong and getting a pat on the hand isn't punishment enough. He must suffer the consequences of his actions. The only thing that can come out of this is a lesson. What we can only do now is hope that something like this never happens again.
