Stephen Edwin King was the son of Donald King and Ruth Pillsbury-King. He was born on September 21, 1947 in the city of Portland, Maine. Stephen's father, Donald, abandoned the family when Stephen was very young. Stephen grew up with his hard-working mother and his older brother, David. Stephen and his family moved around a lot during his childhood, but eventually settled in Durham, Maine, when Stephen was eleven. Stephen was a student at Durham Grammar School, and continued his education at Lisbon Falls High School and graduated in 1966. During his school years, Stephen was an introverted child. He read many comics and fantasy-horror novels and in his free time he loved watching science fiction and monster films. Stephen wrote many short stories while in high school and even won an essay contest. Aside from his studies, Stephen played on the high school football team and was in a band called MoonSpinners. After high school, Stephen went to the University of Maine to major in English. While in college, Stephen took numerous writing courses and continued to write his own stories. He also wrote a column in the University newspaper. He tried to earn money from his writings, but since he got a small amount of money for his stories he had to do other odd jobs as well. He graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in English in 1970. After graduation, Stephen married Tabitha Spruce with whom he later had three children, and began teaching at Hampden Academy. In 1973 Stephen's first novel, Carrie, was published, so Stephen left his job as a teacher to become a full-time author. Stephen has published many works since 1973. Stephen King had a modern writing style. He... middle of paper... who deals. The day before Thanksgiving, Louis took Rachel and the kids to the airport to fly to Chicago to visit his parents. Louis didn't want to go because he didn't have a good relationship with his father-in-law, Irwin Goldman. When Louis and Rachel first became engaged, Irwin offered to pay for Louis' college if he would leave Rachel. This left a bad taste in Louis' mouth and he refused to break up with Rachel, so Irwin and Louis had a terrible relationship from then on. On Thanksgiving Louis went across the street to eat with Jud and Norma. After eating he went home and fell asleep. He woke to the sound of the phone ringing and when he answered it, Jud was on the other end. Jud told Louis that he found a dead cat in his yard and believed it was Church. Louis immediately rushed to see that it was really Church, and was worried about how to tell Ellie.
