Instead there is little or no attention to the definition of individual and specialized tasks. Jobs are specified through communication and interaction between employees who constantly work together (Morgan, 2006). The organization has overall goals, but employees are expected to collaborate, innovate, and work creatively to achieve those goals. Employees have a much greater sense of autonomy in the organic-as-organism approach. This results in a different approach to authority in each approach to organizing. While the authority with the mechanistic approach is clearly defined and formal, the organism approach allows the authority to constantly change to be flexible with the needs that emerge in relation to the approaches used to meet the overall needs.
