Topic > The Problems of Single Parenting - 1298

In the journey of humanity, single parenting has become an internationally accepted concept in most modern cultures. What exactly causes single parenthood? Well, there are many factors that could lead to a single parent household. Death of a partner, divorce and unintended pregnancy are just some of the causes of single parenthood. Based on this worldwide recognition and understanding, single parenthood is usually aided by monetary help from the government or unions. Although financial help is available, the psychological effects a child suffers could never be resolved by any kind of monetary value. These psychological traumas and mental changes could also affect the parent raising the child. Even with financial help, single parents sometimes struggle to make ends meet. A study published in Time magazine informed Americans that lower-middle-class single parents will work more than 40 hours a week at minimum wage to provide for their children. If the parent is so busy at work, who takes care of the child? Sometimes, the single parent may still have ties to their family. Grandma and grandpa have to raise the child as the parent works hard to provide for the offspring. Sometimes, some of our elders do not have the competence to take care of a child. It could also be that the child is too energetic and can tire the elderly. The child will then resort to television, the street, friends, etc. to learn and grow. These influences could be negative for the child, especially if they do not come from the mother or father. An investigation into single parenthood leads to the statement that raising a child alone is very difficult and must be approached very leniently and effectively. Some… middle of paper… you will be equally surprised to find out that some of these kids in the class never managed to graduate due to impending problems in the family and psychological development which led to mental trauma. A census study shows that most single-parent children will start working at age 15 to help their parent pay for basic necessities. Even though the odds are tough for single parents and their children, one should never forget the strong parents who face the challenge with effectiveness and stability. And, of course, we must not forget the child who stood by the single parent and developed strength and character to help the family overcome any obstacle. Single parenthood is a fascinating concept that breeds heroes and well-built people who have been able to overcome the obstacles that have come before them. But remember that even some of these people couldn't make it.
