Explain how the organization of sport in Ireland has evolved over time. The Irish Sport Council is the main agency for organizing sport in Ireland. The Irish Sports Council was established on 1 July 1999 to guide and coordinate the sustainable development of competitive and recreational sport in Ireland. Within the Sports Council of Ireland there are 9 different divisions that work together to try to achieve their objectives. The Irish Sports Council works to educate people across Ireland about the benefits of sport, Ireland has a significant number of obesity which is one of the leading death outcomes in Ireland. The message needs to reach the people of Ireland that sport and exercise is one of the most effective ways to live a long and fulfilling life. Another task of the Irish Sports Council is to seek an increase in state investment in sport. , without funding the message cannot reach the people and without funding it is not possible to develop what is needed to improve sport in Ireland. If sport was implemented and promoted and made part of the educational curriculum it would cause a huge change, obesity levels would decrease, the health benefits of staying active would indirectly mean less people need to visit hospital because they keep fit . It is important that sport is established and promoted and is part of health, that is one of the responsibilities of the Irish Sports Council - they are there to communicate that if we as a nation integrate sport into our lives, the health benefits can be phenomenal. The Irish Sports Council is working towards increased collaboration between national governing bodies, this is one of the essential objectives...... half of the document......lay running and javelin throwing.
