I have spent most of my life in small cities and towns and want the chance to spend some time in an urban environment. Having met people from the Detroit area at school, I realized that the city is starting to recover, but not like before. I don't know if Detroit will become an industrial power again. I'm hoping for a smaller, more eclectic city full of diverse individuals. As a young social worker interested in working with communities, I can see myself stepping forward in the local area and helping lead the way in the push for social change in Detroit. I am a very proud Michigander and I plan to call this state my home for a long time. It would be an amazing experience to help Detroit rise from its ashes into something beautiful. On a more personal note, I'm a huge Detroit sports fan (no, living in the UP hasn't turned me into a "cheesehead") so living in an area where I can actually attend the events I see on TV it would be a great solution. great addition to my personal life. Also, one of my favorite hobbies is listening to music. I often play at local venues singing and playing guitar. Considering Detroit's amazing musical history, living in the city would grow the musical aspect of my life. As far as financial needs go, I have some federal loans that I'm willing to take out to cover what I can't initially pay out of pocket. My family also occasionally contributes to my education during the holidays, so
