The cartoon of the yellow sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea was never intended to be a children's show. Instead, the show was scheduled to air on Adult Swim, a television network for viewers ages 16 and up. The Sponge had a test run, but due to low ratings it was moved to children's networks. Naturally, our dear children, innocent and unaware of the message hidden in the moving images, loved it. In this case “Bikini Bottom” is SpongeBob's hometown, an inappropriate name for the setting of a children's cartoon. This proves that the show's transition from Adult Swim to Nickelodeon had no change on SpongeBob Squarepants. This means that many other sections of the show are probably not meant for children's eyes or ears. This show is a degradation to young minds and their mental and physiological development and should not continue to be broadcast. You might think I'm just over-examining it, but you just have to look at the characters to see it. The main character, Spongebob, is constantly revved up. This is demonstrated when Plankton, the "bad guy", steals some of his DNA and injects it into himself. Plankton began hallucinating non-animated objects dancing to an imaginary rhythm. Then there's Squidward Tentacles, a narcissistic sociopath. The octopus-like character has a room full of paintings and sculptures of himself made by him. He is also seen constantly isolating himself from others by criticizing every single detail of their appearances, especially Spongebob. Surely, our main purpose in educating them is to prevent this type of person from developing from our children. To then become the best they can be and choose their company wisely. Patrick Star is the friend who is constantly given bad advice...middle of the card...halfback, he used Sandy as his main argument often ending the joke by saying squirrels are "stupid". This leads to Sandy often being viewed with distrust and even having her science awards removed. Apparently the Bikini Bottom science committee thought he stole them. Of course this led to Spongebob taking back everything he said, but the damage was done. Even in later episodes, the other fish see Sandy as a stupid, wild squirrel that their children shouldn't go near. It's okay to let our children discriminate, it's not as if we have a history of wild discrimination. It's all in fun if no one knows, no harm is done. After all the show didn't air for its marine life facts because it's completely normal to see a sponge used for cleaning, living in a pineapple, which should be rotten after spending so much time in salt water.
