During this semester I have learned many qualities that will help me in my future career. It was also one of my challenging semesters, having six classes my last semester was stressful. This English lesson is one of my favorites because it wasn't your “typical” lesson or English lesson. This class did not have the test or papers typical of most classes. Instead it was a practical lesson that focuses on the things you need to be successful in finding a career and being successful in finding that career. Throughout the semester we learned several activities to help us achieve our career goals. The first activity we discussed was comparing websites. This activity was something I had never noticed, until I joined this class. It was something that was eye opening and very interesting. The things I learned were website design and the audience different websites target. Websites are the best way for a business to get their message out when it comes to today's society. Technology has changed aspects of how you market yourself as a business. If you are a private company, small or large. Websites make a difference to a business attracting a certain audience and competing with other businesses. Throughout the semester we also focused on the easy access that some websites had and others did not. I looked at four websites and each of them had job postings. The first website was Indeed.com and it is a search engine for job postings for the last 6 six months. The website is very simple: enter the city or state and the type of job you want to search for. The next step is also simple and straightforward: you can see which job opportunities are new and which are old and...... middle of paper......nized when it came to assignments that were due. The most important thing I learned in this course was the ability to work in a team. In the group I was in, we did a great job working together and communication was excellent. When you work in a team you are exposed to different personalities and it is something you will have to deal with in future careers or jobs, and this reminds us how important it is to work in a team. Ultimately, this semester has been fun, but it's also put things into perspective for the new life I'm about to start. I have been going to school since the age of four and now I am about to complete the world of career in this period of my life. It's something I'm nervous about, but also excited about and without this course I wouldn't have the tools needed to complete my career at this university and start a new one in my field.
